Have you tried eating your oKra raw? Great party trick on your friends..

You just have to get them to chew it for a long time, "don't swallow, keep chewing"... Great to begin with, but starts to get REALLY slimy in your mouth...

At BYAP it is a tie in the okra stakes, one for one against. I think they are great. :-)

Haha I'll see if I can trick the Missus yeh we love the Okra curry at the local restaurant, so thought we would give it a shot

Next question, when do I harvest okra? Mine is about 25cm long now

I found them at there best at about 1/2 that size... seemed alot "sweeter" don't suppose it would matter to much in a curry

10cm would be great if eating from the plant, sweet and crisp. 25cm might be stringy and good for seeds.
Try it and let us know.

Dk they stay green?

They do stay green until they dry out and split.

There is a red fruiting variety , but i haven't seen it available locally

I picked 4 off, time for okra curry

Okra curry was a winner although ill be picking them a little smaller from now on
