It is sad that I have all the lyrics to chocolate salty balls memorized... Issac Hayes is on of my favorites...

Day of the Dead, utube description:

Killer surf guitar instrumentalists form Perth, WA. Three piece best described as a sinister hotrod version of 50s surf, spy guitar and spaghetti western theme songs. Day of the Dead infuse modern energy into a Frankenstein of surf guitar fury.

I can't get enough of these guys. I'll be seeing them at a festival in April and an arena show in May. Not many folks play sold out tours then head home to help around the family farm.

Yeah, Nashville is a great place for music, and not just Country. If I want to hear live music at lunch, I can just walk down the road (though that probably will be Country) :)

I love 2/3 of the music styles that came out of Nashville. Country is not one of them...

Alt country and Americana (which are tough to define) I enjoy quite a bit and there's a lot of classic country that's good (especially "outlaw" country). But the pop country that's played on the radio is dreck, just like most other pop music.

You Aussies should come visit. I'm sure Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban would give you a couch to crash on.

I can appreciate Johnny Cash. But most country music I can not do. Blues I enjoy. There is an interesting documentary by Martin Scorsese called The Last Waltz about a band called The Band. It gets into the origins of rock and roll.

That's an excellent movie. I saw Levon Helm (the drummer and sometime vocalist) at a festival a few years ago (he died last year) and he brought it.
