Well today John, the president of the fern society visited, and was amazed at how well the indoor ferns are doing. Apparently is is know as the Kimberly queen, from the Nephrolepis family and the fronds are around 2 1/2 metres long.
Then I took him outside and as is clear from the photo, he was quite taken aback at how well they had grown. The bed holding the tree fern has demonstrated just how little care some plants require as this bed is the one that has had the least maintenance over the years. John has agreed to supply us with more ferns and cycads to try in different situations.

Sue and Nat have been out with the ladder and putting up the last of the crisse decs before xmas. The place is looking very festive and the systems are experiencing a fish feeding frenzy with the onset of the warmer conditions.

I couldn't resist imagining a very old Fosters advert when I saw the back of the van with the beer. You may not have had it in Aus but we had it in UK in the 90's? Several outback lads (I'm sure there is a name for them!) load up a ute with packs of Fosters. And then one remarks " . . and a bottle of sweet sherry for the women" (but he may have said sheilas). Then the ute collapses and the remark that follows " . . maybe should have left out the sherry"

Sorry, not very PC, but I liked it then!

We got our Barramundi this week from Golden Ponds. $10 a pop and they are already pllate size, I suspect we will have them for another 12 weeks or so before trout will occupy the space.
We use an IBC on the trailer with about 150 litres of water from the system they will go in to. Nat salted the water to about 10ppt and they were in and out in less than 1 hour. We unloaded them in to the black fish transporter on a trolley and wheeled them to their home for the next few months, where they will be well cared for and humanely dealt with at the end of their natural life. :)
The temps are suddenly down, so they are not as happy as they should be. The white stress lines on their little heads are an indication of their happiness, or not. Warming up again today so they should come good prety quickly, I would think.

Nat nearly.got to take one home on day one but he righted himself and began to swim upright. Perhaps he heard the discussion about his fate.

We might have to try another one soon Ryan, as one tried to escape. We haven't had power for an hour, truckie tried the go under the power line with the dump tray up. Lol. Bang, no power, then he collected a 20ft tree branch. No fan, lights, water pressure or phone line. TGF smart phones. 40 degrees in the shop. Sue and I have it under control. Sparky just arrived, fingers crossed.
