As $10 each for the fish wouldn't you be better off purchasing a battery - operated bubbler and not take the chance ? They used to sell them at Golden Ponds and I reckon you could get them elsewhere - quite likely at a better price too

I'm heading down on Thursday afternoon, and MAY have some capacity for another few fish. PM if interested.

I wish Matthew. Need to get a second system up and running. They would have a field day with my SP fingerlings!

i would be running air in the esky, GP actually insists you bring an aerator when you pickthem up.

They also told me a min of 80L esky was required.

Hmmm so tempting. The plan is a second growbed for the current system in the next few weeks then a basic ibc system to run a few trout over winter and barra next summer. Don't think ill be ready for barra this summer:sad:

Faye went down and picked up a few of the barra for our systems at the shop and her home system.. The barra didn't really like the change in water temp, would have been nicer to put them in last week with the hot weather, this week the water temps have dropped a fair bit.

I'm only going by feel, I got my barra from GP yesterday and their water was substantially cooler than my 27C water. My fish seem to have adjusted overnight, but haven't taken any of the small feed I gave them this morning, so they aren't completely settled yet.

Ours still aren't happy but our systems are a lot cooler than 27. Must have sold out pretty quick Matt... We did ring about a week before for ours.

They certainly are not totally sold out. They have heaps of tanks which are around 15000 litres and when they are full of water I reckon you'd have bucklees of catching a fish. The ones we got yesterday were ordered a week ago and the water level in the tank was probably knee high. It didn't take long at all to catch them. Wouldn't you know that the cooler weather is because we ordered our fish. Yep Murphys law says when you want it hot, it goes cool. :dontknow:

Yeah when I was there the tanks were full the kid broke one of the nets scooping to catch them, then he gave up and I got the last 8 from inside the shop.

Mine were off food for weeks, wasnt until I covered my fish tank and blacked most of it out and the water got to 30 all day that they started eating, day before yesterday when I fed mine they went nuts, one launched the whole way out the water!!! They are currently eating 2 handfuls of 7mm BYAP pellets a day.

I picked up 10 on Sunday and went back for more on Tuesday but they were all gone. He told me to come back on Thursday which I did. Lucky I went early as they sold out again by 1pm. He told me he took 160 from the hatchery that morning and had sold them all.

I said barra were boring but during and after that heatwave my tank got to 30 and they were twisting off! Great fun. Now back down to 25 and they are still very hungry but not as crazy. At least they take off the surafce. My SP wont do that
