G'Day Charlie!

Good to catch up with you!
How are your systems going?

We haven't harvested fish yet, the trout are only 5" and are our first batch.
(we retired the gold fish in favour of these just yesterday)
But we are really looking forward to it, feels like we are all grown up now!

For anyone in Victoria, I recommend the Central Victorian Freshwater fish farm, Rick is Fantastic out there.

Regards
Jeff

Hey guys

Its great to see the green house green again,

Getting great growth across the board,

Water is fantastic, nice and clear.

The trout have provided 100% better growth than the goldfish ever did, and they themselves are growing so fast.
Feeding has become lot of fun.
Since there arrival, the whole system has taken on a new life and dimension.

Porter

I have been trying for ages to get some clear photos of these little critters, finally got some. They are growing well and weathering the heat just fine.

Around 25cm now and haven't lost one so far, so not going to badly.

Apparently the yabbies have tails tucked in...apparently this means babies...so while the cage was off, and the water low from cycling, i grabbed the camera.

As for the yabbies, they are now in a maternity ward!

A bit more of an update,

Sadly, we lost the trout, not to heat or human error, simply a failed air pump.
The new one had been ordered on Thursday night, and Sunday the old one failed, Monday the new one arrived. I pulled the old one apart, and it had simply melted in the heat from the day before. Sheer bad luck.

But, nothing to be done now but to move on, so until i can get back up to get more its a week of maintenance and some infrastructure upgrades.

I continued the 100mm pipe, directing the return water to the sump down to the bottom and pushing the flow across the bottom towards the filter inlets. Its working brilliantly so far.
And the upside is, is that is has silenced the water noise of the returning water into the sump.

The third aquabridge now in place and see below for the in place photos.

But with the new mods, the flow across the bottom of the tanks has really improved.

With the new air pump, it meant a new air rail.

Looking neater, almost happy with it.

The next job is the tank lids, the fence is to high for kids to 'fall in' but no sense taking the chances.

And thanks to an unexpected delivery of a cubic metre of Red Scoria,
Perfectly timed for the upcoming GB extension.
Now i have to wash it!

System looks great Porter. Those clear tubs still look good. Just goes to show you can do just about anything in Aquaponics if you put your mind to it. Shame about the trout, onwards and upwards.
