If an update is what yer wanting an updates what yer gettin. Today has been the first day i hav ebeen able to get any photos since the move, so it worked out well :)

The move has been completed. I didnt get any photos of the move because i was busy as all hell with the move. Lets just say that i am hoping i dont have to do it again any time soon. I got some photos of the haul from the trim up but i seem to have lost them some how... In the age of modern technology, it is a strange feeling to loose a photo.

Byt the time i got the system to the new house it was well and truly dark, and i was in a mad rush to get the system back together so i could get the perch out of the small aquarium they are in. I put the main grow bed on the tank and filled it up. Only to find that the pavers were well off level, about 1" over 3' is my guess. It was late enough in the night to have to call it and hope that the silvers would be ok in the aquarium over night. I got up early, pulled it all apart and leveled everything out in a few hours and topped up the water. I was very limited for time, so i gave the silvers probably about a 200% water change over about 2 hours and poured the whole lot into the tank. Not the best i know, but i had a lot more stuff to move.

Here is what it looks like a bout a week after the move. The system where it is now gets a sh!t load more sunlight which i can already see the difference in growth rate. It is also very protected from wind which i am happy about too. The corn might stand a chance now. I still need to sort out some shade cloth to stop the sun shining in the tank and there is a lot of crap to clean to from the tank too.

Image

This is a watermellon that i planted about a week ago. It has nearly doubled in size. I am surprised how quickly the plants have taken off given that all the water is new. It has not even got any seasol in it, but it is already the colour of tea.

Image

This is a cuc that was planted at the same time as the watermellon. 7 days and it alreadys has 3 cucs on it. I have 6 cuc plants in there.... might be eating a few soon :P

Image

You cant really see in this pic, but the jalapeno is starting to shoot again after its transplant.

Image

The main grow bed. The brahmi is having a real hard time after the tomatoes stole all the sunlight from it before the move, although i think it will come through. The silverbeet might have run its course though.

Image

Another crappy photo. I couldnt even see the screen of my phone when i was taking these

Image

I also added this lettuce with the watermellon and cucs. The cor is looking a bit sorry for itself but seems healthy. i have about 5 cobs of corn forming and it seems to be growing new shoots since the move.

Image

It was a painful move, nut i really think that the system is really going to start powering now that it is getting a proper amount of sunshine. Hopefully it will start producing at the AP potential it has :)

Looks like the new spot will be a winner.

That corn looks like it has recently exploded... I can't make any sense of it at all :)

Well done on the move mate, Ive been there and I know how painful it is.

Just a thought but Id scrap the corn and most of the other strugglers and start again, they will be a bit shocked and will grow a bit munted. Thats what happened with mine anyway. Plus, its kinda nice to start fresh.

Sweet spot too mate :headbang:

It was a huge effort bender. A lot of stress for the fish and myself in the car. Thanks mate :)

SV the corn got battered by wind at the last place. and has fallen over, but it seems happy. It is a bit hard to see in the pics, but they have started sending up new shoots from the roots, so i might get a few new corn plants yet.

Charlie the corn didnt get removed from the grow media, the black tub i just moved. It was fraxen heavy too. Nearly blew a popper valve lifting it.

I am really happy about the new spot, and plenty of room to install the solar too.

It seems to be a new google+ feature to instant upload full size images. This is a problem for me because i am way too lazy to resize the images. I dont understand how my blog can autoresize them but the forum cant....

Just think of it as me providing more detail :)

Haha

On my blog when i upload photos, it automatically resizes the image to 3 different sizes ready for the different devices that view it. It would seem like an easy way to enforce the size limit of images on the forum without causing everyone lots of effort in learning how to do it.

I might have to try and link to the images on my blog....

I upload all my photos from my phone's camera, to photo-bucket, using the photo-bucket app, and then use the image code from that to put photo's in my forum post (and facebook, blogs, pintrest, and everywhere), so it does the resizing by itself, could try that?

That looks like a much better spot for your system too, I think it will be very happy there in the sunlight :-)

Thanks for the tip charlandsarah. I think i will have to link to my blog which resizes automatically too.

Charlie, the plants are going spastic. Apparently we had a 44degC day and the plants are loving it. Using a sh!t load more water though... Which is a probem because i dont have a rain water tank any more and no way really to degas the water at a fast enough rate.

Will get some photos tomorrow, but i ate my first cuc tonight. It was a little over ripe. Less than 4 weeks in virgin water!

Just add tap water straight to your FT, no need to off-gas top ups. I add about 2-300L to mine every couple of weeks. :thumbleft:

I dont envy you moving your system but it seems you did great. Did the system have to cycle again at the new place?
What are the plans for expansion?

How are the silvers going?
A cucumber in 4 weeks is awesome! What variety is it?
Your lettuces look great even in all that sun :headbang:

Thanks Charlie. Will top up the system now then.

Marc, all i did was put tap water in it and start the pump. Within 2 days the water was tea coloured and i was getting algae growth. I couldnt believe it. The silvers are hitting the food at the moment, almost as hard and as much as my trout were at this size.

The cucumbers are lebanese. I was stunned when i got home. In 4 days it went from the size of a frankfurt to a fully grown fruit. :thumbright: Even my watermellon is about a foot long and has about 7 flowers!

It really is exciting seeing the growth that everyone else does in the plants.
