Pool salt is great.

Don't use the aquarium ick treatments. Just salt up. Start with 10 parts per thousand, and then reduce with water changes. If it is just a few fish, you could put them in a separate salt tank, but I worry that more stress will add to the issue.

Thanks again Ronmaggi you :headbang:

I went out today but all pool stores are close today. So i went got some all natural sea salt (from California) with no caking agent or iodine. I got two 22oz can, how much do i use? Did you mean 10 parts per million? I have a PPM meter, so do i add salt till ppm go up by 10ppm am little lost here. And dont want the ich to spread till i get some pool salt Monday, about $10 for 40lbs.

No, parts per thousand. Go to a hardware store and pick up some solar salt.

Thanks Ronmaggi, i got the salt but cant seem to get the math right. I have about 650 gallon total, and add it 325 grams of salt so far. Will 10 parts per thousand kill my duckweed ?

I don't think that a nuclear explosion can kill duckweed... But I don't know about salt. I would probably stop circulation and just use air bubblers or the tome you gave it salted that high. At 10 ppt you would be looking at 52 lbs of salt. I know my bag is only 40 lbs. I'm sure that would be enough to kill the ick. Then it will be time for water changes.

10ppt will kill most plants, use a hospital tank if possible. 1 kilogram/1000 litres is 1ppt

1 part per thousand = 1 kilogram to 1,000 litres of water, convert it to imperial

:wave1:

Thanks again all, only lost one fish. All fish seem to be doing great and no ick. I set salt levels to 3ppt for maintenance. The water pump that fills GB caught on fire :shifty: I had no funds so have not filled GB with rocks or replace pump.
