Aloe Vera seems to be growing well.

Aloe Vera must be able to adapt well to different climates? Probably more suited to a siphon system?

Sorry mate i didnt see the question. I have it in a constant flood. I also have some other succulent in there that 'hates wet feet' and has doubled in size in 3 weeks. As long as your water is well aerated then chuck in any plant to give it a whirl. What do you have to loose?

Most plants will grow well, just make sure before you buy they that the plant doesn't mind getting it's feet wet. Speek to a specialist at a nursury and they may be able to head you in the right direction for the sort of plants you want to get.
Many ferns will love the AP system.

Sorry to disagree but that's not right -
The roots are not always wet as flood and drain - floods and drains.

CF is a different story...

I think Murray's got 2 massive pawpaw trees in F/D that 'hate' wet feet.

40 degrees is challenging. Kang kong and climbing spinach would be the go in the heat. Sweet potato are great for shoots but the root mass if left unchecked can be a nightmare. I would defibately go with kang kong.

I have not found CF to be any different to flood and drain for plants that like dry feet. As long as your water is well aerated (which it should be for your fish!) then i think you will not have many problems...

Unless you are a timed F&D at least a large amount of the root stock will be submerged for a decent amount of time anyway.

Plugging an external website is called spamming William...

And frankly... the site you mention doesn't have the depth, breadth, content... or quality of information... that you can get here...

Indeed.. most of the few knowledgeable and informed members on that site... cut their teeth here on BYAP...

P.S... plants, ornamental or otherwise.... don't get their growth from the "vitamin content of the seafood wastes".... in fact plants don't really have any requirement at all... for vitamins... they make their own....

I think aquaponics system is the best for planting ornamental plants. I want to say that it depends on the solidity of the fish tanks and the vitamin content of the seafood waste. In general, the best plants growing in an aquaponics system are green veggies and herbs. If you want to more information about aquaponics system, than you should go to theaquaponicsource site.

Mmmm green vegetables and herbs huh? Suggest you hang around and look at a few systems threads and the fruits of their labour.
You will learn a lot.

I have a couple of clients... that use the AP beds for striking cuttings... luv the results...

But they remove them once established... and then pot them in soil.... losers... :D

Charlie: shoots roos, catches yabbies, and grows pretty flowers

I've had a few various flowering things in my aquaponics, but mostly only while they root so I can transplant them to their place in the garden.
