I've always wanted to ask you Aussies about Christmas "down under". Here in the U.S. Christmas and cold winter weather are linked together so much, ie.:
1. Nearly all Christmas movies take place in snowy environments.
2. Santa using a sleigh and reindeer, a snow and ice vehicle.
3. Snowflakes and snow are major Christmas decorations.

Seeing as our seasons are the opposite of yours, I was just wondering how different culturally Christmas is for you guys?

Not much different as all movies are Americian and tradition is still base from European.

Starting to get Santa delievering presents in a sleigh pulled by Boomers ( big kangaroos) or from a olg ute (pickup truck).

I'm in Darwin for Christmas and already it is hot and sticky, as far as the kids are concerned there is snow at the north pole but just heat and sweat here so Santa wears shorts T shirt and thongs.

Ps The beer is nice and cold.

Christmas Adelaide River Northern Territory Australua 2012, hot, sweat ,hot ,sweat some more, lots of new friends, cold beer and good wine. Did I mention the heat and sweat. Cheers and Merry Christmas everyone.

Woo hoo I got new thongs for xmas, photos later. We had hot xmas ham, turkey and all the trimmings, crayfish cocktails and cheesecake with the air con cooling flatout to compensate for eleven guests and the hot oven. Phew all done till next year.
