Every so often I harvest a handful as a treat for the fish. Seriously need to get more productive with earthworms. You need plenty of bins for all the veg scraps from the system..

I posted over on the 2012 trout brag thread here

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12537&start=465

(how do you do that cool thing where you say 'here' and its in blue and peeps can just click on the word?)

Anyhow.. 40kg's of trout.. mostly in the freezer which has been specifically purchased for the task :thumbleft:

Biggest fish was just over 1kg. Not bad considering I was so hopelessly late out the blocks with all the shenanigans with the Cape Nature permits thing. Next year I am going for 300 much smaller fingerling much earlier in the season!

Now we go down the same fishless path as previous years. guess I just bide my time with the worm tea and pee and castings and some seasol and whatnot till it cools off again...

Or should I just go on a major mission and find those damn African catfish somewhere???

Still the steady flow of great veg. Lots of spinach, cabbage, water cress by the shopping bag full, basil is going nuts and tommies on their way. I also have chilly in the wicking beds which survived the winter and are now producing like mad! Green peppers are coming along and the egg plants are going nuts this year. Also have Rhubarb in this heat still doing fine which is a bit weird. All's good!

Beautiful fish!

To do the URL link you do

[ url=http://www.linkadress.com ]what you want the link to say[ /url ]

Without the spaces....maybe it's a back slash not a forward slash??

Thanks Charlie, Francois, Rupert Dr Luke and all...

Today I was tidying and thinning the growbeds and in the one growbed came across a dead bird. Pretty well rotted down... Yuk.

Now that is a strange thing to find on your growbed, but then while doing the next growbed I found the remains of yet another dead bird!

Now that is a major WTF, and a bit worrying... Why on earth and why on my growbeds?

I've noticed that the birds like to come down to the growbeds for a bath or a drink of water? Often I find a cat hanging out on the growbeds - strange, I don't own any cats :? Cats like fish, cats like birds - Cats eat fish, cats eat birds and sometimes they just like to play with their food. I doubt there is anything wrong with your system Brian but I think you've picked up a predator, I'm just not certain what kind, although, I have some suspicions :support: .
