Well your temps probably going to get lower and the Tilapia might make it and they might not :dontknow: If you have any more unused IBC tanks and extra greenhouse space, put the tanks in the sun and fill them up to help you store heat if you think you need more. Of course you could just see which ones make it and breed those since they will be more temperature tolerant.

Hi helomech I reccomend reading the 'Aquaponics Hungary' thread by Peter (zsazsa).
His passive solar greenhouse in Hungary's pretty harsh climate is inspirational and even though it's a long read it's quite worth it.

If I can keep the water in the 50F's I should be fine for the winter. I can always do some water changes since my well water is always near 70F. I thought about putting a bunch of my IBC's in the empty spaces in my greenhouse. May do that this week.

Thanks

Thanks, going to read it.

I read that a while back, thanks for bringing it back up.

Water temp dropped to 60 overnight, inside the greenhouse got down to 43. Low last night was in the 20's. Sun is supposed be shinning today, so we should be able to get the water back up to 65F.

I feel for you helomech with your crappy winter growth but lets go back a few months when you were smashing out bumper crops why we were all struggling with the cold and lack of growth

The tables have turned my friend :bootyshake:

Winter = plant accordingly, grow trout and stay inside :thumbleft:

LMAO, to true Charlie. I don't think I could do trout though way to short of a season. I have seen highs in the high 80's in the middle of winter. Never know what the weather will do here.
