Hi Sunnyfarm,

Great work on the diagrams.

Going from the fish tank directly to the raft can result in the plant roots collecting solids and can cause problems so check the roots on the raft bed plants occasionally to see if they look healthy.

Cheers

Hi Scotty,

good to read you.... how about this?

How about if i put the inlet from the pump right under the outlet of the fish tank...

That should get most of the dirt out before something can reach the plants...

I think that will work if your system is to be continuous flow with the pump always on.

If it doesn't work out, you could remove the rafts (save them for an expanded system later) and grow water hyacinth to feed to the fish as a supplement (Tilapia fish). If you eventually go this route, Water Hyacinth is a heavy feeder so you'll want to be sure there are some nutrients left over for the growbed (just regulate nutrients by throwing some into the compost or to the fish).

Hope this helps.

Hi Sunnyfarm,

In Aus, a white pointer is another name for a great white shark. There have been several fatal attacks from these sharks in WA over the last year.

    Fish Tank to External Filter
    External Filter to Grow Bed
    Grow Bed to Raft Bed
    Raft Bed to Fish Tank

Okay...

I will change Fish and Raft... can I leave the SOL in the new Raft tank (before fish tank) ?

No.. the SLO will lift the solids from the fish tank... into the filter...
The raft tank (end) will effectively be a sump return back to the fish tank... of water stripped/cleaned of solids... and/or nitrates/nutrients...

The pump.. at the end of the raft.... will provide the flow for the SLO in the fish tank...
