I cant find the patent.

Do patent pendings show up in a patent search.

I dont think he'll get a patent, or the funding.

I'm seriously thinking of starting a kick-starter campaign....

To setup a screen-printing business... to print "tee shirts".... for kick-starter campaigns... :D

And back off everyone... that idea is "water-marked"... "copyrorted"... and "painted pending"...

Mate... lets get together... I reckon we could ask for about $250,000 easy....

And hey... we could even run another kickstarter campaign.... for $50,000... to produce the video for the other kick-starter campaign... we just need to list it as "post production" costs...

You even actually qualify as an expert. :)

I love the kickstart concept, and that it actually raises money.

Strange that some of their rewards exceed the desired funding.

The $260 was to fund their second system.

I guess that means you always get the cash because you always make your goal. ie pitching so low.

Do you have a patent on your sequencing valve, and if so can I pvt/bug you a bit about the process?

Yeah I don't particularly like the whole kickstarter concept.. Well, I like the concept, but I don't know about the general reality of how it works and how I've seen it being used.

In fact the whole concept of kickstarter was originally to help artists and musicians:

Quote:
We allow creative projects in the worlds of Art, Comics, Dance, Design, Fashion, Film, Food, Games, Music, Photography, Publishing, Technology, and Theater.

Everything on Kickstarter must be a project. A project has a clear goal, like making an album, a book, or a work of art. A project will eventually be completed, and something will be produced by it.

Quote:
Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. Kickstarter is full of ambitious, innovative, and imaginative projects that are brought to life through the direct support of others.

Nowadays it seems to be more about how you can try and construe your latest get rich quick business idea as "a project" rather than what it is, just another product.

See when people have a business idea or product that they want to get to market they generally put their proverbial cojones on the line through funding themselves, re mortgaging their house, getting a bank loan or borrowing from friends or family. When you have something to loose personally, then you really make something work. If you have nothing or very little to lose, then you can be half hearted about the final results..

This guy gets his 120 odd grand and really doesn't actually have to deliver anything at the end of the day if it all goes flop... At least in the real world if it goes flop then the person will lose their house or, or have to spend a long time paying it off.

For novelty items like this, if you reckon you are on a winner, then put your money where your mouth is, not everyone else's money..

It seems to be becoming a retail method. There are those deals that say "once 100 people are in, you can buy a flat screen TV for wholesale prices. But in this case it's more a case of, once 100 people are in it gets manufactured, and you get to buy it at wholesale prices.

I can see a place for it where a product might not be made unless there was a known market. For instance (and I dont really think this is a product) I played with putting my power head inside a pvc tube and it worked very well at low to zero head. I'm not going to make it because it would cost 40k$ to make the housing, but if every member on BYAP wanted one they could all have one for only a few bucks.

Like I said, I dont think that's really something to persue (and besides, it turns out to already exist) but when the product is something like that, I can see a place for it.

I have no money, nobody to lend me any (not that I'd ask), and don't know anyone who would be interested in backing an idea. I also suck at organization, so would really struggle with getting a product off the ground, but I have a few ideas, and can come up with new ones when needed.

The challenge is to come up with something that you'd put $20 in to see it come to fruition :)

The video would have to go something like "Put in $20 and get one. Unless you are EB, Then you get 10 :)
