This is why u shouldn't transplant mature carrots.

I had 30 odd carrots in a pot that were getting crowded, so I planted them in a new garden bed covered in mushroom compost.

Two days of rain and 35 degrees later, this is what they look like. ... Pissed off!

These three were supermarket size. Should have just eaten them.

Carrots don't like compost. Soil that has been used for other crops so that the nutrients are down or sandy soil is best.

Thanks, I figured after I saw the mold that it had come from being in the compost. I expect the rain and heat caused it to happen so fast.

Won't be doing that again, might be able to save some of the smaller ones.

Yea Ive found loose sandy soils are best. Bit of a bugger they look a good size.... and they take so dam long to grow too!
