Good to catch up bear and put a face to the name, has your mate got the bug? Look forward to watching your system come together.

Things are starting to get a wriggle on now Charlie with the extra fish with the cherry tomatoes starting to set lots of fruit and the cucumbers doing some weird things with cucumbers coming out 4 at a time.
I am also experiencing another algae bloom at the moment, think it has something to do with adding the extra fish. After I added the fish a week or so I had a small spike in ammonia and no2 this will be about my 4th or 5th bloom.

Sorry for the late reply Jesse, the grow beds are converted stock drinking troughs made locally here by a plastics manufacturing guy.

Bloom is still there CC it won't seem to go away,

I had a HSM incident a couple of weeks ago went to top up the fish tank and left the hose running all night.....came out in the morning to find 27 Barra all dead, but the water was crystal clear have since purchased a $19 timer for the tap but still mad at myself doing it.

Have got another 20 Barra in there now so on on we go things are growing well especially the cherry tomatoes, cucumbers didn't do so well kept getting attacked by little green grubs.

All a learning curve mate, I have started to put mine together and will start a thread when
I get home. In Adelaide river at the moment and will call to see you if I can. Auction on Wednesday so not sure when I will return home.

May just have to do a night patrol and pick and feed the grubs to the Barra. If possible keep the beds flooded for a while and check the surface for eggs or grubs. They could be in your medium during the day and coming out to feed at nights. Cheers

Just a quick tip - all mobile phones have an alarm, and most have a countdown timer. Set the alarm / timer when you top up the FT, and you won't have a problem.

Caught up with cc bear a week or so ago when he dropped in for a visit in his travels, was good to be able to speak to someone with a strong aquaponics interest, I am a little bit starved for that sort of company here at the moment.

Don't know what happened but we seemed to lose the tops off a couple of bottles of wine as well... :drunken: :headbang:

Hi Andrew, what other fish if any does fisheries do beside Barra. Read an article in the NT News of this lady catching a barra and they also mentioned that they were catching sleepy cod. Cheers
