My philosophy is over think, under build.

"I said I was going to build my grow bed in the swamp. They said 'It's madness to build in the swamp' but I built it anyway! And it sank into the swamp. BUT I rebuilt it! And that one sank into the swamp. So I rebuilt it again! That one burned down, fell over and sank into the swamp. But then I built THIS one and that stayed standing!"

I will be watching the progress of the vanilla vine. I have a couple growing in my dirt bed, just harvested about 50 vanilla beans.

Make sure you can get to the vine, hand pollinating is difficult enough without having to swim at the same time.

I hope it does well though, the idea of just having the roots in the bed and then having the rest of the plants spread over a green house seems a great way to add volume without adding extra growbeds.

It is a real labour of love to process the beans though and they stay on the vines for about 8 months before you can pick them, I hope you planted them in a low turn-over area of the grow bed.

Hey APers!

I just spent a very informational and enjoyable afternoon at JT's place. His installations are even more impressive in person than they are online. And JT is just as interesting in his own right!!

If y'all get the chance, go by and see his place. it's worth the effort to see his work and chat with the builder.

Thanks JT, for the tour, the information and the conversation. My daughter and I really enjoyed our visit. Looking forward to the next opportunity to visit.

You've inspired me to work harder at getting my own system running.

JT do you do anything special with you hot peppers to assist germination?

I have read that they can be a lot harder to get to germinate.
