Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to AP, I am located in Miami, FL so the tropical weather allows for good growing but the soil quality is pretty crappy as it all used to be swamp lol so I decided to do AP. looking to grow a variety of different vegetables, but mainly the difficult to comeby Scotch Bonnet. Would appreciate any useful info from people that have grown it with success in an AP system. I am currently finishing the build for my AP and looking to start cycling within the next week, needless to say I am very excited to start...look forward to hearing back as most of the topics I have read so far are filled with good info.

Welcome, by the SB do you mean the chillie, if so believe you should have no problems as most chillies love AP

Thank you for the welcome ccBear, yes the Chillie, it is in the same family as the habanero. That is great from what very few info I have been collecting it seems the chillies grow nicely in AP, just wanted to see if the particular SB has any particular "speed bumps" I should be aware of.

My brother-in-law grew lots of scotch bonnets in the Virgin Islands mountainside using goat poop. I can only the crop using fish poop!

Thanks Aquahues! I think you left out a word lol but I am excited to start, and look forward to having my fish feed my peppers instead of me having to handle goat poop

Welcome!! you are in the right place, lots of members do peppers in their system so there will be a ton load of advice coming your way!!

Remember post lots of pics so others can see and understand your system better, this makes it easier when its time to trouble shoot.

I can tell you any hot peppers grow great in AP...

I had (still producing for another couple weeks) a chocolate habenaro plant..... that was about
5' tall and 5' in diameter.. to date we have picked almost 1000 chocolate habs off it...

if you check out my thread... you will see that it's not a pepper plant, its a pepper tree

Great! Thats what I was hoping for...thanks for the advice DecalsbyJT, I've seen you are a big contributor and look forward to reading more of your contributions to the forum. And that is crazy! over the course of how long did that pepper "tree" produce that many chocolate habs?

I planted the choc hab last december and was picking them early march.. and still picking them.... now...

I have about 1000 seeds which I have been selling on ebay


I will be pulling the plant out in a couple weeks and making room for other stuff.... but I will be planting
again...in the spring

Wow what does a choc hab taste like?

Those are some good looking habs! Do you replant every year so the roots don't take over your gb, or you do it to keep your ap setup seasonal?

Chocolate habs are the same as regular habs, except they have a little sweeter taste

and being grown in AP they seem hotter then the dirt variety

I have actually planted another choc hab plant at the other end of the GB....this one will continue to
produce all winter in the Greenhouse. I will be pulling the BIG hab plant and replacing it with tomatoes for a feb. harvest
