Hi guys, still planning my AP setup and curious if there is a basic guideline to pump turnover rate in AP setups. With aquarium systems a lot of people shoot for 4 x and some up to 10 x, but I could imagine that this amount would be a little extreme or unnecessary in some situations.

A rough estimate of my system is that it's going to be around 2500-3000 gallons, and I intend to run it off of a single pump.

1 x minimum... 1.5-2 x preferable... if you're stocking higher...

Thanks, that sounds good. I'm not doing dense stocking since the aquaculture side of my project is primarily ornamental fish.

Any opinion on this pump? Any other better quality one out there with remotely close pricing?

I have an Alita AL-60 linear air pump so I have plenty of air available. I've had it running over 65 outlets and still going strong.

With 2500 to 3000 gal of water you will need a lot of growbeds to get a single turnover an hour for that amount of water, particularly if you are doing flood and drain. I have 5000l (just over 1000 imp gals) and run 15 mins on and 15 off, so running for 30mins per hour, with 3000l of grow bed and i would only shift about 3000 to 3500l per hour. You may find that many of the larger systems that run flood and drain dont turnover all their water every hour.
cheers
marc
