Hi Eagleye :wave1:
I think this is what they call Brahmi - the memory herb. I have not grown it or tried it.

Reminds me of a story from some years ago. Mitch came to work and said he found out about a new herb, supposed to help with memory function.
Joel asks " oh really, what's it called?"
Mitch looks at the celing with pointer finger to chin and responds with "mmm I can't remember."
Everyone laughs, well its not working then is it?
(Another cartoon, waiting in the wings.)

Faye . Yeah I think I will just grow it , not use it .:) also my cos is growing up really fast and the leaves have a different texture , can I still eat those leaves ? Will they taste the same ? Or should I just replant and start them over again ?

Charlie . Good to know but kinda creepy :P

I can tell you that brahmi is not a nice tasting herb. If you chuck it in a hot dish you can not taste it, but if you make a tea with it is leaves a lot to be desired. I have some drying now that i am going to try and mix with a tea to try and mask the taste. I made a tea with it while it was green (apparently bittters is good for your digestive system) and it gave me the explosive sh!ts, which is fine when you know its coming. I have read that there have been scientific studies that have shown positive results for memory, but then i could write that on my blog too. It doesnt make it true. I am yet to find anything that convincingly proves it effectiveness. I did read one article that suggested that brahmi had something in it that has been proven to improve brain function, but i dont know if the brahmi has it in the concentrations required.

Brahmi does grow well in AP though and i use it as a cover for the side of my IBC to try and make it look a bit nicer.

Sorry to hear about the wood collapsing. I was just watching the video above the last and thought that i should mention to keep an eye on that piece of wood because it was sagging.

Bolted lettuce will taste bitter, better to replace. If it was good lettuce save the seeds from a couple plants.

I read somewhere that if bitter lettuce is washed under cold water and stored in the coldest part of the fridge the bitterness disappears. I have been harvesting all my bolted lettuce and have varying amounts of bitterness and when it comes to eating them in salads, sandwiches etc no one in my fussy family have complained and I can’t taste any bitterness. So in my experience it works and has resulted in a lot more salad making it from the AP to the table!!

In fact I will be sitting down to a bolted lettuce salad for lunch, with smoked trout!!

Yep , i noticed it too , but it turned into one of those "it can last one more week " ordeals . my own fault for ignoring it . i did jump out of bed pretty fast though 15 litres of water dropping from 1.5 meters does make a hell of a noise :blackeye:

Yep Eagleye the lunch was great.

A great advertisement for Aquaponics.

I have lost count of the number of people that have made the BYAP trip after one of my lunches at work. A few weeks back I brought a whole smoked trout in and warmed it up in the microwave. I could smell it for the rest of the day and had no end of people asking what it was. Not surprising I did not get much for lunch that day!!!

The butter head lettuces are great. Charlie put me on to them a while back and they are my fav after oakleaf. I let the butterheads run up to seed and when the flower scape is about 50cm long I harvest. Even the flower bud is nice (IMO the best part)
