Thats OK, Brothers tank water during winter used to be 18 deg. Dont expect them to feed much tho.

Yeah dont buy them too early or you (& the Barra) will regret it. Have a look at all the posts at this time of year last season and everyone was losing their Barra due to cold water temps. What temp are the TAFE keeping them at?? If you water is cooler than theirs I wouldnt be buying any just yet.

Just rang GPs and they (apparently) have 25cm barra for $10. What sort of stocking rate should I be looking at for 300l of filtration at that size? 10 fish?

That would be a good number for heavy feeding, fast growing fish... especially in a small new system...

nice, I just wish my water temp would go up a few degrees over night and i'd be putting some in!

The only issue may be they might not be used to the floating food but they should figure it out eventually.

The large barra I got from golden ponds last year had that problem.

got a call today from the barra supplier in Bangkok they are arriving on the 13th Nov ...no probs with water temp here almost constant 29deg ...these babies are 75mm and already weaned onto pellets , skimmed some off the top of an international order , usually the minimum order is 10,000.... wish me luck
