maybe a little late, but I get my seaweed extract from http://www.denieuwetuin.be
Click on the link 'vloeibare plantenvoeding'

I get my seeds from there too. Check out their seasonal lettuce mix, you can have lettuce all year round.

Thanks, it is never too late. They are the first I have seen now in the vicinity with pure seaweed extract available. I bought some organic foliar spray a while ago to counter act the potassium deficiency I thought was occurring.

Nice website and nice philosophy they have.

Thanks Mr. Bill :thumbright: , still soaking up all the info before starting the construction of this amazing apparatus.

We are now fiddling with the greenhouse "phase two" construction. Since al parts we were given used to be part of some collapsed greenhouse construction it's a bit of a puzzle. That and the funky angles we came up with between the existing glass window roofing and the new wall makes it a challenge. As well as trying to incorporate a chicken coop in there somewhere.

With winter knocking at the door, we are in the race to get our greenhouse up before first night below zero. A lot has been done, a lot of not-fitting stuff has been made to fit to the existing growbed stand.

So far so good.

I'm looking at all that green Outside the greenhouse! Nice yard.

As for the greenhouse addition, that looks good as well. Is it positioned where the winter sun can shine in on some black barrels or some sort of mass source? The sun can warm up the thermal mass and release it over night. (Maybe with a bit of assistance with the Rocket Mass Heater)

How cold does it get over Winter and for how many days?

Hoeve, you are certainly making good use of all available space in that garden, although I suppose a game of backyard cricket is out of the question.
It would be interesting to see a photo taken from the same point in late January or so, just for comparison. How about it?

I have really enjoyed reading about your setup when I should have been working. Thanks for posting the progress.

When we first started to design our system it got a bit out of control  . Ten cut IBC GB in two rows in a passive solar GH, two complete IBC sumps dug in completely under the isle and two IBC fish tanks under the lean to. A black wall of water drums in the GH, total height of the GH over 3 meters, width over 3 meters, total length over 8 meters. Reality struck, space was too much of an issue and the budget not that grand.

We now as building/expanding as we go, materials are found en route.

To get an idea of the temps we could encounter during winter, there is a short comment here http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=11332&start=15

Nice to see your system coming along so well.
I've been dreaming about a greenhouse for 2 years now but haven't got the budget yet.

I've found another website from a Belgium aquaponics project.
He has some really nice fish: the Omega Perch, a variant of Jade Perch.
http://www.vasch.be/aquaponics
They grow a lot faster then the trout and can cope with much warmer water.
Maybe something worth looking at.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, I found them some time ago. I sent them an e-mail to find out if the perch was available, but no reply... It seems to be the ideal summer fish.

A plate size omega perch is actually plate sized.
