I feel a bit troubled by the equasion ...

we eat from the land and the sea -> we crap in the ocean

There seems to always be a problem with adding inputs even to an aquaponics system.

I cant see how it's viable to not crap back on the land, unless we harvest stuff from the sea, mulch it up, and spread it over the land.

The nutrient in -> nutrient out equasion simply needs the addition of fosil fuels as nitrogen no matter what we do unless we add human waste to the system.

So far all we do with human waste is kill everything in the ocean near the outlet.

I'd love to be wrong, but I cant think of a way out. Either we need to save human poop, mulch sea life and spread it on the land, or continue to pour oil everywhere like we do now.

Is there some other way I need to start readfing about?

I've lost my spell checker - Please get over it

I dont think that was of TED standard. (no offence intended to the obviously well brained up speaker, and this is just a comment about the TED forum)

Most TED talks introduce the concepts they are discussing before they use them to describe the points they are making. "As we see here when we rotate this in 8 dimensions" requires the viewer to just presume the speaker knows what they are on about. It doesnt really inform. Fine if you have at least a passing familiarity with the subject, but not really TEDworthy IM[]O.

I think he is so used to talking to particle physicists he has forgotten most of us do not have what he would consider a basic understanding of what he was talking about.

Nice.

Much better.

And like I said, no offence to the speaker in that TED talk, but the normal TED platform is so great, because they dont presume you already know what they are talking about.

This stuff (and perhaps a bit of electronics) is why I wished I did some maths subjects at some stage in my education.

There's a point where english just doesnt cut it, and you have to speak mathamatics, of just start trusting everyone :)
