Is this enough to get an ultra low energy aquaponic system badge? :headbang:

I have installed the new pump. It uses 21W compared to the 106W of the old one. ;)

That is my total energy usage currently as the airrator (5W) is off since june. These fish dont need it. ;)

Summer peak seems to be over. We had several days over 30C, now it has started to cool down. GH performs great. Now I have fish that like hot water so I tried to raise system water temp with controlling the ventillation (door and window).

Daily maxes are: 27-30C
While nights can cool down to: 14-17C

I tried to keep the water as hot as possible. By closing the door for the night I can hold the system temp by the morning 22C. A daily closed door can raise the temp up to 27C. I have never closed all surfaces, as the system produces a huge amount of hummindity that has to get out, but with a half closed window you can reduce the cooling down.

After trying different settings, I found you can choose your system temp in a zone between 4-5C under and 2-3 over the daily average temp.

Further options for lowering the temp is controlling heat gain and heat loss by evaporation of the system (CF daily, FD by night, adding extra airration is an other option), and by adding the replacement water from the well (13C).

Heating is riskier. By reducing evaporation you gain heat but also loose gas exchange, and that can lead to a catastrophy.

All in all you still dont have total controll as the weather rules. Everithing is connected with the actual weather. Sun, temperatures, hummidity sets the base on which you can apply your tricks. ;)

Its end of summer in the greenhouse. Outside its cloudy 7-15C so my water temp dropped to 18C.

On sunday Im gonna harvest the african catfishes and the tilapias as well. Trout season will start on the 2nd of november, with 100 pcs of ~30gr-ers.

We are ready for the winter, I hoping for a better winter with norlam temperatures, not extremes like last year. ;)

I really like the plants you have especially the lemons and grapes in there.

Q: How is AP in Hungary? How many people are going to run systems this Winter?
