So a beep siphon does the flood drain without cycling the pump? Did I catch that correctly? I need to research those better I guess. I find that impressive that one goldfish fed that huge tomato plant.

The 2 basic ways to flood and drain a GB is by either a bell syphon or pump timer.

At the top of this page you will see a link called IBCofAquaponics. I believe all the basic answers are in there for free. If it is not in there, I know I don't mind answering the questions that I know. I also know that there are other people here that are generous with answers. Soon you will be one of those people too!

Yes no need to buy anything, I learned everything I know right here. The IBC of AP is free and has a good overview section in it.

BTW this forum was giving out free AP info for 6 years before that book came out, it's not the Bible of AP. :-P

Thanks guys. Will give it a read. I need to check this site over from a computer so I can see everything and get a better overview of things. Just haven't had time.

The IBC site should be fairly good on a phone or tablet, it's made to have a responsive layout depending on the device you read it with.. http://ibcofaquaponics.com :thumbright:

Read a lot of that site today and last night. Tonight I picked up a 30x24 tote for a grow bed, pea gravel, and a 24" 2 bulb light fixture. Hope to start getting it ready to setup tomorrow. Depends on how much time I have.

Got the spot cleaned out and the aquarium setup and cycling with goldfish. I still need to find a spot for some things then can build a stand for the grow bed. I will probably start a new thread once I get to the point of going together. Already have a friend that's giving me plants to transplant once its complete.

Keep the same thread please! It makes it easier to look back at where you came from.

Got my bulkheads yesterday. Picked up some lumber today. Hope to build a stand for the grow bed this weekend or beginning of next week. Then plumbing and plants. I'm super stoked!!!

Well I finally got some work done but not enough. My wife has had the stomach bug all weekend and put a damper on my plans. I got the stand for the GB built and in place. Also purchased a 48" shop light because the 24" wasn't cutting it for light output. All that's left is plumb it and put the gravel in. I'm so ready to get something growing in there! Maybe this weekend.
