That's an unusual one... Haven't managed to see cotton seeds for sale anywhere before. Might be hard to find an heirloom variety because not many people grow it apart from big farms.

I have some parsnip seed going begging, I saved it myself.
Not for AP but good for in the ground. Seed doesn't keep long so needs to go in right away.
Also some white onions, they are yates, I have several packets unopened use by 2010 hunter river white is the variety
Am happy to post a 55 cent envelope to anyone who wants some, but maybe not WA or TAS sorry, not sure if its allowed. And not out of Aust either.

Wow! great varieties there. I would lurrrve to get hold of a few seeds of each of those but I am in Tassie. No yabbies. No silver perch. No tilapia. No barra etc etc. Oh well!. Alan

I have had a plant growing for a few years
Its very difficult to grow from seed
I got mine from a nursery in Bundy (they usually get them in spring (about $10)
Once you plant it it does self seed and you get a few coming up everywhere,but hard to get started your self from seed.
Microscopic size seeds are a problem too.
If you wait till summer I can pot some up for you and mail it(good luck though if it survives Oz Post)

Cotton Seed?? Wouldnt that be a little like GM canola??? Oh sorry, we West Aussies cant get many things but GM canola, Sure!!! just ask Monsanto. Have finally managed to track down some sorrel though, through the local nursery. Cant wait for it to start producing its beautiful lemony flavoured greens for our salads...

We have heaps of garlic chive seeds (organic but not AP) if any one is interested...

I wish us west aussies could get tobacco plants . It would be good to try your own

got way too much Laksa plant - if anyone would like some PM me - I live in Coolbellup. Can either take a whole plant or cuttings.

I bought some from Meisha on eBay - $1.30 for 500 seeds. I heard good things about Quinoa and it's about the only grain I'm willing to try these days.

Good transaction with her - buy more than $20 of her seeds and postage is free. Most of her seeds are heritage (aka Heirloom)

Taro...doesn't that grow tall like bamboo and have an edible root? Love to try that...ate it in the Maldives once. Tobacco and Cotton... Can prob get this fall but can seeds be posted from USA to AUS?

Off to google a tomato tree now, I needed another distraction this morning.

Edible root, yes... grows tall like bamboo, no... I grow a form of Taro in the dirt here in Costa Rica... We call it Tiquisque and usually eat it like potatoes (baked, mashed, in soup, with sour cream, etc.) You might know an ornamental variety as "Elephant Ears". I've measured 5 cm growth a day with this plant...



Technically (since we are technical gardeners, right?) the main part of Taro that is eaten, is not the root or roots, but the corm -- a short, vertical, swollen underground plant stem that serves as a storage organ. Of course other parts of the plant are commonly eaten (leaves, petioles, etc.) in a wide variety of cultures. Lots of good Taro recipes out there.
