Hi Charlie

The Blue tank holds the silvers the green tank some of the trout the 2 ibc's in the center take the overflow from the SLO's in the fish tanks and then pumps to the grow beds

The IBC on the left also holds trout and flows to the blue tank via SLO

There is a external sump tank which returns to the fish tanks via a float switch which also supplys the DWC beds and NFT

The green drum on the right is a bio filter for the bara tank which runs independent of the system as i didn't want to run through the grow beds as i heat the water for them(don't know i will bother next year) I change out barra water when nitrates get to high .

hope this is clear as mud
Cheers

Hi Witho

The biggest problem i have found with the pots is the roots growing into the drain as i am only using 19mm drain line back to sump i need to take the inner pot out periodicly and trim the roots . I also have added some coco peet to the pots to help retain moisture as the water only trickles in when the sump is returning to fish tanks

Cheers

Thanks WP, I will keep an eye on the drains. The Coco peet is an interesting concept.

I am thinking that the pots may broaden the range of plants you could grow compared to the traditional flood and drain arrangement. Any thoughtd

I cant see why most things would not grow in the pots

I have tomato's in at the moment and growing great even picking some of the grape variety.

My DWC beds are doing extremely well at the moment so i will be adding more of these as soon as i get time

eating pea's every night tomato fruiting broccoli heading chives going crazy strawberries watercress kale capsicum

lettuce all being harvested at the moment from the DWC.

Harvesting silver beet / kale / broad beans /tomatoes / Cameron apple / gooseberry / peas / angelica /horned musted /parsley /Dill /Fennel /carrots/ all from the grow beds. Not to mention the trout from the tank.

So many good things to grow and eat .

WP,

You're making me hungry. I think I will need more grow beds!

Can you clarify DWC?
