Just try to stop them. You'll have deformed inbred guppies in no time.

Someone at the beginning of this thread asked how many guppies you need to feed your AP fish.

The feed results from the BYAP system trials indicate a roughly 1:1 feed ratio for silvers (they probably eat some algae, insects, mosquito wrigglers etc, as well) , so if you weigh an adult guppy (or however many you need to register on your scales), you should be able to work out what you need to feed them over their lives. one good thing about live food is that it just never goes to waste it just keeps swimming around keeping fresh.

I think 500g of live guppies should make a 500g silver perch for the plate.

Dr Luke, Interestingly, I never got deformed guppies, and I had a colony of 20 that turned into hundreds and was self sustaining.

We occasionally got big piles of different colours, obviously depending how the dominant male/female was over a couple of generations. but no deformaties to speak of.

The only deformities I am worried about are the guppies getting smaller .
How long do you think it will take your babies to get to a good size so that you cab feed them too your fish iceman?

Sooo I am feeding my guppies crushed up byap floating pellets which the love . I have noticed a big increase in colour in them since getting them back from The pet shop which is cool the only problem now is that my water has turned really green . I've researched it a tiny bit on the guppies forum and apparently they don't mind it,so I think I will leave it , also its prob not fully cycled .... Also I keep my tank outside in the sun so that could also.be a reason for their increase in colours if the fish and the tank ... Not just the better food . I have 4 potted aquarium plants in there and some java moss and some free floating fox tail . Pffft agae is still blooming ! :x:mad:
