On Saturday the 27th October Troutman (Gavin) will be coming up and selling Silver Perch in the car park here at the BYAP shop, between 9 and 12.

If you want some fingerling on this day bookings will be essential, so contact Gavin and book yours in..

I'm sure Gavin will add comment to this thread as well.

Yes bookings will be preferred (contact details on my website) as I wont be bringing too many extra fish with me for the journey. The prices will be $0.10ea on top (to cover my fuel) of the listed prices on my website but as you will be picking them up there will be no delivery charge so overall it will work out much cheaper. Also you will need to bring an esky or similar container to take the fish home in and bring some of your systems water with you so the fish can acclimatise on the journey home.

Got plenty of the little ones 25 - 40mm and 40 - 75mm size range but not sure how many (if any) of the 75 - 100mm I will have as I have a lot going out next week. May have some of the larger ones again in a few weeks time when I drain another pond though I doubt these will be ready for this trip.

You do so at your own risk gorotsuki69. This year I have had several customers who have lost all or at least some of the fingerlings when added to a tank of larger Silver Perch.

Hi Gavin

I am just about to finish installing my aquaponics system. I am not sure the amount of fish I can grow I,d like if you give me some advise. I will have one tank 1000 lts with fish, two garden beds of 350 lts each and another 1000 lts tank to hold clean water after the garden beds. I think I can go with 40-50 fish but I not sure.

looking forward your reply

regards

Jcastro

As a guide 1 fish per 20L of filtration would be 35 fish. To be on the safe side just starting out I would say 30 fish.

What do you need more Marron for Charlie?? Didnt you find a dam full of them out in the middle of the desert.
Wont be bringing up any Marron as you of all people should know that at this time of year the Marron are either mating or the females are berried so I wont be harvesting any for a while yet.
