Are you talking about the test within posts? What browser do you use? I found Internet Explorer to look pretty horrible, firefox and chrome looked a bit better..

I'm using Safari, from what I'm seeing I'd like the text to be 3/4 the size I'm seeing ATM. One of the things I don't like about the AP Gardening Ning forum is how huge everything looks. Psychologically large fonts make the site seem less information dense, less pro-level.

Would be nice to be able to control it a bit. I'll look into whether the "-" key even works on a Mac or if Safari can adjust per-site.

Edit: this is what I can fit in my window, smaller font would help show more info than whitespace.

Edit2: Nevermind about screenshot, Retina display always shows screenshots way huge (twice the pixels of a normal display).

Edit3: As an example, the text here is maybe 1/3 larger than the initial threads' text on the BYAP facebook page. It would be better IMHO to show the text here about that size.

What I am looking at here is excellent for me, so of the pages have very small text, way to much of a strain on the eyes.

Given that everyone has widescreen monitors these days, is there any reason we are sticking to such a skinny forum? I assume its 800 wide? perhaps stretch it to 1000? or even 1200?

In the template code you can just set the table/div to be 100% (or another percentage) wide instead of a fixed width, then it will fill the space.

That's a bold assertion... that's probably not backed by fact at all Orcy...

I attached a Greasemonkey script for you, it will make BYAP 100% width. (unless they change the CSS, which will break it)
imho it looks pretty good actually.

As a tablet user, I like the 800 width. Did the font go smaller today?

Some threads still have the clean large font look...

Just not the "clean new look" thread....

I should have used a different adjective to describe the changes to the site. Nothing is really "clean" and anyway clean is subjective. Perhaps one could say the desert is clean. Aquaponics on the contrary is cleary the opposite of a "clean" barren wasteland. Clean also has connotations of harmful cleaning products that eradicate any and all signs of life. Therefore it is unwise to use such a word to describe a website that is read by proponents of mother nature and her cycles.

"If a cluttered desk signs a cluttered mind, Of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?" - Albert Einstein

Young Grasshopper is learning Rupe.

It can be stated though that there is emperical evidence that a "clean" and straight to the point website is advantageous to a company or cause that is attempting to attain more exposure in a hyper saturated and imformation overload web based society; so perhaps it would be better to go straight to the Board Index and skip the Portal.

Instead I should have said "I like the way the site has evolved." :thumbright:

On that note I would like to finnish off the post with a music video by Julian Lennon:

Is it ironic that this music video was filmed in a huge barren and very clean, white mansion? Or were they trying to make a point?

Here is a painting that if I'm not mistaken is the most valuable privately owned patining on Earth worth $140 million. Looks quite messy and organic and just goes to show you "clean" is over valued.

This music video contains plenty of symbolism and methaphors about society and our perception of "clean". One thing is for sure, in our very plastic, credit card reliant culture - "clean" sells. Please check it out:
