Straight to active topics for me, I seldom use the portal page.

the button for View New Posts is harder to spot with the new layout. maybe reduce the font size on the Last Visit and date

Or put a <br> after <% SEARCHBAR %> in your board header settings.
That will add a space so it isnt as cramped

Would you like a big blue button in the top header for it, right next to the "view active topics" button?

There is room for it to fit nicely...

I find the whole forum set up very confusing. I say the simpler the better.

I go to straight to the forum index and then hit the new posts or active topics.
Well, actually I usually get here from clicking the link in the e-mail from one of the subscribed topics and then once I read that I might hit the view new topics or active topics.

Have never looked at Portal page, I go straight to View New Posts

I went to the portal page for the first time after reading this thread this morning...Is that what it does?...For me, I wouldn't be worried at all if you removed it...but really it doesn't worry me either way.

On a slightly different subject....

When I log on I get sent to the general banter section first...I then hit the board index, and away I go..Is there anything I can do to make my default page when logging on go straight to board index?

It was doing that for me too till I refreshed the page

Daily visit to portal sometimes takes ages .
Please don`t change anything as us old codgers do NOT like change!!!
Whatever you do - will be ok with us.
Its quite fun seeing tomorrows updates when we are a tad behind in time !

I can honestly say I never go there now,but I think it has some info that new members may be interested in. If it is a PIA to keep it going or will affect the new system then its probably OK to remove if some of info is found somewhere else. I only use active topics now.

I'm with Seamonkey on that point - I don't visit it often now but in the beginning it was gospel, and every now and then I hit the info section to clarify a thought...

Hmm I think I got the wrong end of the stick there - you'all talking about the Portal to the Forum not the Portal page of the main website... to clarify Portal/Home page of the BYAP website is cool, the Portal to forum I hardly use... damn and the contrast of the new look forum is a bit harsh on my eyes - point size is cool tho...

If I got to the forum on another computer for some reason I go to http://www.backyardaquaponics.com and then click on the forum link.
It takes AGES to load and is quite annoying..
PS: I'm a slow learner
