Don't post drunk, MF!

When the time comes to move the plants upstairs I think the most I will be able to fit down here is a 150 gallon fish tub and a 150 gallon sump, with 300 gallons of gravel upstairs. I guess I am limited to 75 lbs of fish with this basement setup as I understand it ATM, but I will be looking for ways to fit more water down here.

I'm having a hell of a time finding pure ammonia to do fishless cycling. None at WalMart, Target, got some at the grocery store but it has detergent in it (foams and soapy) so no go.

Crystal meth makes victims of us all...

Hey GF:
Feeders could bring in disease and I don't have a lot of time to wait for the fish-method. Guess I'll get on a lot of drinking (and a lot of peeing)! I have the two gold fish and the algae eater that are trust-worthy.

It's astonishing how much little fish can poo! 250 3-8cm fish in 10000L with an ammonia spike in less than a week

Dave, put your goldfish and algae eater in there. Do a heavy gravel cleaning out of the aquarium, and put all the siphonings in, too. I agree that feeders can be risky just because they are not handled well. If you wanted to pay more $$ for 'real' fish from a reputable shop, they would probably be lower risk.

You can get your fish in a small batch, and then a larger batch if you want to reduce the load. You might even convince me to drive the second trip on the assumption that I get a tour of your system.

I had about 1.25 pounds (0.5KG) of goldfish in the system for a couple months when I added the half pound (.25KG) of tilapia. I am now getting a trace of ammonia and nitrite where I had none before. And the fish are on short rations right now to keep things in check! (Poor, hungry fishies!) I agree, Jaymie, it is amazing how much they poo!

Persistence pays off!

For those keeping score at home:
Walmart, Target, Food Lion, Lowe's, Dollar General, and AgWay did not have pure monya.

I was able to get some at the local Weis grocery store.

Yep I should do that Steve. No phone number on the label though.

GF, it is the grocery store brand (Weis).
