The ATF is not child protective services... And they killed all the children anyway.

I agree, the ATF had no business there. But I believe they did it because of the accusations about the children.

I think that I'd child protective services was involved instead, things would have been handled very differently. Plus, accusations are not enough to burn down a compound full of people. The fire was not started by the Branch Davidians. The use of military personnel and weaponry was also a breach in the constitution. You need to pay attention to these things if you ever plan on becoming a cult leader  .

I completely agree, that is why I said what I said earlier. They should have never been involved. It is just another example of a corrupt government, that does not care about the laws of the land.

So when picking what politicians you vote for... you should be very mindful of what personal freedoms you might be likely to lose...

Sadly... especially these days... we seem to be prepared to accept that we have to accept the lose of personal freedoms... rights and conditions.... and blindly vote based on old hat ideologies....

Rather than voting for candidates that advocte protection of freedoms.. rights and conditions... and marching down the street.. to tell politicians that we're not prepared to see our rights, conditions... and freedoms trampled upon....

But, I guess... that's because we're a bunch of comfortable, aging, selfish, self centred, self righteous, visionless bastards...

More interested in what happened in the gambling pit of the daily share market... what suburb we live in... and the value of our houses are....

Than concepts, and vision... of what future we might be leaving our children...

Make no mistake about it... we do get the politicians we deserve... ask for, and demand....

The current state of the nation... is TOTALLY... OUR FAULT....

So very true...

In every country around the world, whatever the regime, it is the people that give their government legitimacy, in some way.
Nothing can stand in the way of the people if they decide to stand up and fight. No military has ever done this.
That is why I don't vote. I don't recognise the govts legitimacy, and I don't believe that becoming involved politically can change anything in any real way (but that's just me).

Any major political change, can only come from a grassroots movement, from the people.

That's one of the problems with the Australian election system.
Compulsory voting.
In a democratic nation people should have the right to choose to vote, same as the right to choose who to vote for.
I don't want my vote watered down by someone who doesn't care who is in, and is only voting to stop getting a fine.

in a way i agree werdna, but in the us, roughly half the people vote, which means less than 30% think they are the "majority" (the moral majority that is)
it should be compulsory to get educated

Don't worry, I just put a blank piece of paper in the box :P
On that note, just remember..
Voting for what you don't want, won't get what you want ;)

One of the problems with many people in the majority of democracies throughout the world is that they see voting as a right rather than a responsibility. We are collectively responsible for choosing our leaders as and as such that is why we always get the leaders we deserve as a society. Too many people focus on their rights they believe they should have as citizens rather than the responsibilities they do have as citizens.

Nicely said Stuart.
We are responsible, and so we need to hold the govt responsible. It just seems like people want more and more, at the expense of everyone else.

What a silly discussion for the ap forum. I have a handgun and a few rifles... Many of my neighbors have assault rifles/ak47 etc.

We also have one of the lowest crime rates in the state...

There are so many guns in our country you could NEVER go back to no guns... Just not practical. Hell, a lot of the guys make their own guns and reload ammo...you going to search everyone's house to clean them out?

I also wonder how many stabbings and other shit you guys deal with in comparison

Silly silly thread

Yeah, I agree.

Sorry everyone.

I actually though I posted it in rant.

I'd move it if I knew how. I doubt anyone would disagree with the move :)

Yes, you have to stop posting on a thread, otherwise it keeps coming back up...
