So, the goldfish have been in there a week and a half now, and they're doing great. I tested the water yesterday, PH is about 7.5ish, amonia is about 1 - 1.5. no nitrites or nitrates yet.

My spinach and herbs are doing great as well, I'll post some pictures up later :-)

So, here are the latest pics of the veggies! can't get pics of the goldfish, cuz they hang out at the bottom of the tank, so not much to see.

Cool stuff guys. Plenty more rooms for plants too. What else you considering?

It looks like your system could use a bit of iron maybe. Have you been dosing with seasol at all? A cap full a week is a good idea for a new system IMO. Or you could use some chelated iron.

lol, I may have read the directions on the bottle, and not the ones on the forum.... and poured a whole bottle of seasol in there about 3 weeks ago... water's still quite brown... plants do look a bit sick, but i'm hoping they'll come good once we get some nitrates happening?

I think i'm gonna head to bunnings this afternoon for some tomatos and basil, and maybe som cauli and brocoli... i have a bunch of seeds that Charl found in the shed last week from the last time i tried to grow vegetables, but i'm too impatient for seeds....

Thats a fair gulp of seasol lol.. I personally would go for 300ml ish on first powering up the system, then a cap full daily for the first month..

Chelated Iron x 1 teaspoon couldnt hurt

Helloo! just poping in to let you know we haven't fallen off the face of the earth! had a busy few weeks, and i did stop in last week or something wanting to post some pics, but that was when the staying-logged-in issues were happening....

so yeah, i've been adding some more seasol every few days, i added some iron last week, which seems to have helped heaps, and been adding a little bit of fish emultion as well, cuz even with the gold fish, i still haven't been getting an ammonia reading....

soooo.... i'll test again this afternoon, and post results.... i'll take some more pics too, i've now got some lettuce, a chillie, and an eggplant in there, and i also transplanted my strawberry in there, even though it had fruit on it, it didn't seem to mind.... My spinach and parsley are *HUGE* :blob2: :blob3: but something's been eating my spinach.... :upset:

so yeah, pics later.

Thanks for posting the pics of your neat and tidy system, my wife is against any cables in the house and didn't want an IBC in the garden trailing wires all over the place either!

I like the "made out of scraps for $0" approach and she likes your approach, I think I know which one we are getting...

A coat of render is usually cheaper.

Have you guys checked your ph? The iron deficiency I had early on was actually nutrient lockout because my ph was too high.
