Out of interest, how long have those trout been in the system for.

That's some impressive growth. I'm guessing generally cooler temps helps....

Todays dip and 5 averaging nearly 400g with the largest 500g. One small one slipped out of my hands 3 times and bumped its head trying to get it back in the tank, so dunno if he will be swimming tomorrow. Gave three away to willing takers :)

Haha, just noticed the dip picture accidently put in again ooops

I did a couple of the trout whole in the barby, wrapped in foil and with lemon slices, butter, salt and a sprig of rosemary inside each fish. They came out yummo with a hint of the rosemary coming through :)

G'day Mathew, nice fish also mate. Yeah there was one fish that had a fat arse, some deformity. Caught a small short wheel base model the other week, he was only 150mm long and had a girth of about 250mm. I threw him back in the tank when in hindsight I should have thrown him to the dogs.

I like your dip idea Mantis, I might have to give it crack later on. Back up at work, bugger...40' deg plus. The boys pointed the temp gun on the ground on the bottom of the open cut pit and it was 70' deg. Now that's hot...

Yeah there were a higher than usual number of deformed fish in last years batch. I took out the clearly visible ones and later gave away several hundred of them but I guess some will always slip through the net.

Yeah, I've had a few - but they all taste good - we just call 'em "stumpies" and everyone is happy to eat 'em

There were a lot of deformed silvers a couple of years back too, we still have a few with no tails or humped spines..

That's a beauty, R'OZ! How did you kill it? I am wondering because I can see no sign of injury.

I caught three of mine over the weekend, using rod and reel with worm baits, and finally got one that topped 400g (405g)!

I wear a glove on my left hand so I can grab hold of the wriggling buggers and stab them through the brain with the fileting knife. If the are wriggling too much I dong them with a wrench that is always handy :)
