Yep, I always halve it on the cheaper pumps. Similar to when your mates tell you fishing stories... "yea, that queenie was a metre long" .... the truth is it was probably half that..... and a blow fish.

The 2000 gallon per hour pump that I am using is pumping water up 9 feet, and I still have to divert water back to the tank, because it is to much flow for 4 grow beds. The siphons won't stop unless I divert some flow. And that is using only 3/4 inch piping. If I went to a 2" pipe it would have a lot more flow up at the grow beds.

That looks like the one and the price is about the same. I took the screen off the end and slid a piece of pvc pipe onto the intake of the pump. I had to sand on the pvc to get it to slide on. No worries of it clogging up now and it sucks from most of the bottom of the tank.

yeah, that way it is less likely to clog, and it cleans the bottom of the entire tank.

1300 should be plenty, but that one has a UV clarifier in it. Not sure if that is good for AP or not. Also need to make sure you can hook PVC to it some kind of way. On mine it is just pressed on, no glue, or threads.
