My partner and i are setting up a IBC toate system and as im the more mathmaticaly inclined one(not by much :liar: ) and i would like to run my numbers by yall. We are running a Growbed that is 38inW X 46inL X 14inD (96.5cmW X 116.8cmL X 35.5cmD) now the GROW MEDIA is 11.7inD(300mm) that is split into 3.9inD(100mm) LECA and 7.8inD(200mm) of other media. So given thease numbers iv calculated the following

TOTAL MEDIA VOLUME 88 us gal/333 L
TOTAL LECA VOLUME 33 us gal/114 L
TOTAL OTHER VOLUME 59 us gal/223 L

Are my calculations corect or did i go horibly wrong some were?

Just went thru the math and was about to tell you you're only going to have 11.7 inches of media then re-read your post... :D

My only comment is that with mixed media you may have more settling, especially if the diameters of the particles are significantly different. (smaller media will eventually settle to the bottom). And (I guess that wasn't my ONLY comment) you may not have issues with container deformation because of the IBC cage, but if you do, that will increase your volume required to get the proper depth. It added an extra cubic foot for me.... Or my math just sucked ;)

Ya, all the info iv read sugested at least 300mm of grow media and to stop the water rise 2cm from the top of the meda s i decided on a 14 in deep GB with 300mm of Media this gives aproxamently 2 in over the media of lip and since im a american i used the system im most familer with but im sure with practice ill come to like or at least be more familer with the metric system. hence the realy weird 11.7 in of media it comes out to a total of 300mm
