Great looking beds JT, nice & tidy..
Would of loved to use timber for beds here but didn't want to feed the termite nest next door..
Have a good one..

thanks

we have termites here also..... but I treat the ground under the old pool liner.... after I get the mulch down between the beds, I will treat that also.....

Im hoping to make about 18 total beds.... no more traditional dirt garden for me :)

An awesome, and beautifully built system! Question, as I can't find it in the thread, where does the overflow 'flow' to? Does it just discharge to the garden tarp? Or is it directed somewhere?

Hey KrisGee

the overflow just flows out onto the ground.......

the only time it overflows is when it rains, or if I have to top up the reservoir... so there really isnt alot of overflow...

well i'm at a stand still at the moment on my large wicking beds....

I ran out of milk crates.... as I search around to find some more, I decided to set up some smaller wicking beds...

I just happened to have a 110 gallon rubbermaid style plastic tank so I made it into
a wicking bed...

Here is the tank set into position and leveled up..... I put it there to help hide the ugly well pipes
Image

Here are some old bottle crates I picked up for smaller WB's. Three of them zip tied together. These are 4 1/2" (114.3mm) tall.
Image

Just making sure they fit into the tank.......
Image

Putting landscaping cloth on the crates.....
Image

I wanted a higher water level, so I added a 90 and extension pipe and got 2" (50.8mm) more water depth
Image

Crates put in, overflow goes out through a uniseal, fill pipe installed... the black rings you see on the fill pipe is tape to cover holes. The pipe is a used one..
Image

Sand is in and placing separator sheet..
Image

Half way with the dirt... this dirt came out of a old raised bed that has been composted for a couple years... really good soil

Excellent job the only thing i would do different is have the drain right at the bottom then a riser to get your height that way if you ever need to you can drain your bed right down [to wash out salt or whatever buildup ] also it doesn't hert during heavy rain to flush the bed
