You're more than welcome, it these little 'unknowns" that can cause long term issues.

I have actually posted this several times, and it may be in the useful info section too, but after hesitation i posted it again ;)

They break the ammonia-chlorine bond, neutralise the chlorine, and leave the ammonia "free"

had thought about this point when checking on chloramine, what I did was treated my 2nd tank (the one hooked up by siphon pipe), then allowed it to trickle into the main tank on each cycle and monitored the ammonia levels - it will take most of today to cycle from one tank to the other, will then do another dose for both tanks tomorrow after tests.

Present levels:
ammonia - <0.25 (slight colouring)
nitrites 0
nitrates <100
I have 2 growbeds up and running and although one is not fully cycled would be capable of handling some ammonia levels

Any other suggestions you may think of is highly welcome (some of your previous comments must have stuck  )

thank you Monya for having gone through this last week :) Because you went through it and posted what was happening and how you dealt with it, I knew what to do this afternoon when our fish started flashing at the bottom of the tank. PANIC!!!!! :confused2: :shaking:

Then, when I had calmed down slightly, I ran up stairs to the computer and re-read this thread.... Dumped about 4000L down the hill (like we needed more water there  ) and now I'm refilling the tank from the rainwater tank.

The next thing to do is smack myself on the side of the head and say "stop feeding those little beggars so much food"

Now, if it is still raining this heavily tomorrow, maybe Alex won't have to go to work  and we can finally sort some plumbing problems out and get the beds finally pumping. :clock:
