Got some more done today!! It almost didn't happen as i was on call and got a couple of calls but i managed to sort them out without having to attend site!!

So when i finally got around to my parents place, approx 11am i got straight into it. Dad had already made the base/stand for the fish tank, solid red gum sleepers are being used everywhere, its great!!

I got stuck into something i had been looking forward to since we started this project... the WINDOW!!
Image

While i was working on this Dad was starting to insulate the FT cage and then cladding it... yes we are a tad obsessed with old hard wood fence palings!!

true to form we were redesigning things as we were going and randomly threw some ideas around about the lid and came up with this.

Image

the first two panels will be hinged, the first will allow easy feeding and the second folded back will allow easy maintenance and netting!!

back to the tank window, after a lot of cutting, sanding and drilling and it was time to get into the stupid thing and put it all together.

I needed a step ladder to get out!!

The FT will be insulated completely and the whole system will be cladded with fence palings and some sections with merbau trim!!

The acrylic that we used for the window is 6mm that dad picked up from work, its perfect!!

here are some pics of the light (dropped in my system for the photo) with water that should be cleaner.

The photo doesn't do it justice but i am very impressed in the look.

How many of the strip lights would you use in the IBC FT and how far from the bottom would you set them

I think i'll only use two strips of 12 LEDs and mount them roughly inline with the window but at the rear of the tank
