Both the big B and big M have 720W generators for $50. The one from masters runs for 6 hours.

Does anyone know if they would run for longer if say we are using only 300W or something?

Generators are usually rated for fuel consumption at half power. So a 720 W gen that is said to run 6 hours would only be using 360 watts. So at full wattage it will not run the full 6 hours. I don't know if I would buy a 50 dollar generator, I am betting it will give you all sorts of problems.

sounds like the kind of thing I just bought. If it stops running properly just check that the exhaust is not fouled. Oh and go over the whole thing and tighten all the nuts and bolts. My ones head and cylinder where hardly what you would call torqued down!

I bought one and would go racing outside every time there was a blackout to start the thing, but the lousy blackouts never lasted long enough.

But very worth while at 50$

Rough power comes out of them though (ie lights flicker etc) so I wouldn't run a computer or anything delicate on it.

And keep in mind they are two strokes and two stokes prefer to be used* rather than left sitting in the shed for months at a time. Easy enough to start for a minute or so ever now and again.

Also it's best not to run them dry ie: until they run out of fuel, as they run very lean at the end*.

*I'm told by someone I'd count as reliable on such stuff.

All sounds true to me BW. Having had a 2 stroke 70hp outboard on a fishing boat, and if it wasnt started regularly it was a cow to start.

Nothing at Bunnings here, not in the cattle dog I picked up in store. Masters voucher only good for this Sat and Sunday. 35 k there and 35 k back cost more than the $10 saving so bought one today while I was in the area.
