Yeah, the sun is out today, no rain....

I was afraid that all the seeds that I planted in WB2 might have rotted..... it's been raining for almost a week....

I went out today and saw cabbage seedlings, along with so carrot leave poking up.. YEAH.. some made it....

will have to wait a few more days and see if anything else comes up.. if not, I will just re-seed

the first bed was from old pallets

the second and third are from old stained deck boards....

I may paint the first one the same color as the others...

How you take old scraps and turn them into a first rate looking project is quite beyond me...

I try to use as much recycled stuff as possible... but you cant get 8' 2x4's so those are new... and of course the bolts.... liner and sand and dirt..

the milk crates are used, and Im using scrap pcs of PVC.. so I would say they are about 40% recycled....

if or when I ever decide to build a wicking bed I'm gonna plagiarise the hell out of this thread. So pro. When you have spare time and are really itching for something to do I'd love more details on the construction... I can't see anything on these I'd like to improve so just supply blueprints :)

Third bed is now coming along......

since the ground was out of level a little, I sifted some sand into the bottom
of the bed, leveled it out and then put the carpet down....

got 10mil liner and installed that...and got the crates installed

will get the sand and topsoil in today or tomorrow....

I have a lot of plants in flats almost ready to go in...

An idea... The wicking beds of this design are perfect for building a hoop of PVC pipes over. Some two-hole straps on both sides, bend the pipe to slide into the straps, cover with plastic... and you have yourself a mini-greenhouse.

Looking real good. Necessity is the mother of invention - like that sifter idea.
