PH will naturally come down over time. No need to change anything.

Excellent, thats what i needed to hear :)
Once i get clear water i'll introduce 25 silver perch fingerlings..

Actually i had another question too - My pump is about 5800 LPH which is ideal for my purposes -
There are 2 x 1" ports on the pump (in/out obviously)
The out is fine,
The input currently has nothing attached and is sucking directly from the sump thru the pump - without any filtering.

Would it be worth making my own filter (no fish will be in the sump) or not bother?
I'm thinking about 2 foot of 1inch pipe capped with slots would act as a good filter?

Possibly not a bad idea.. Strange that there would be nothing at all on the pump, most pumps come with a cage of some sort.

I'd put something on it as you suggest.. Though make it as big as possible to provide a loot of surface area.. If the fitting is 25mm, perhaps then go up to 40 or 50mm with a coupling and make loads of holes in the 40-50mm pipe..

Not sure what happened, but when i got home from work the water was really stinky!
Maybe an ammonia spike? im not sure but it was pretty gross, like dirty fishtank water.

Did about a 50% complete system water change.. fingers crossed.
