Hi all, I have the chance to get several ibcs dirt cheap, They have been stained with iodine. I have used iodine to sterilized my drinking water when camping. So if I wash the totes well I assume they would be considered food safe even if the stains remain. Am I right? Has anyone used a tote that has been used for iodine? Will any possible leaching from the stain kill my tilapia?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Michael

I'm not sure what it would do to the tilapia, but the all important nitrifying bacteria may be affected.

i'd go for it.. just scrub good with detergent, bleach, then neutralize with a bit of vinegar..
