With your head up in the clouds PJ you'd be able to see them from 10km away. :D

You've really got me thinking now, R'OZ.
It is true that both wives took off, but I assumed that the wide berth given me by females in recent times was more to do with geography than personality. You have caused me an epiphany. I might just crawl back into the sand (sadly, no rocks on my property under which to crawl) and mull over this new information for a while.
Feel free to progress this thread without my further input. :(

I'm the female half of DamselandDread posting. You'll almost always see me here -- unless there's some very techie stuff on the physical half of the system -- because Dread doesn't like posting on internet forums.

We should make a great team on this because I'm the gardener, student of biology, and cook while he loves to build stuff (everything from bookshelves to computers). The biology of raising, maybe even one day breeding, the fish and growing the plants should be right up my alley while the technology of building and running the pumps, plumbing, possible solar hot water heater on shed roof, possible greenhouse, ... are his territory.

Not that I don't know my way around the tool shed or that he can't make plants flourish, but for us the division of labor falls naturally. He's not going to get excited about feed conversion rates for the fish and his attitude about the growth of the veggies will probably be, "Looks nice dear, when do we eat?" And that's fine because I'm sure that when he shows me his wiring diagrams will undoubtedly be along the same lines. LOL

Are we the only couple? How odd... however "we" is actually "me" (Sarah) posting on here, and also mostly me bossing Charl around and telling him how to build my system for me... I did cut the IBC's open, but then the only power tools i'll use are the jig-saw, band saw, drill press, and mouse sander..... and i got to use the jig-saw for that one.

Maybe most ladies are good enough at growing stuff in dirt that they don't have to worry about AP? My mum thinks i'm nuts with all her green thumbs. But i, with my black thumbs, saw AP on better homes and gardens one night and was like... "you mean i don't have to water it!?" and i was hooked.... i also like the idea of not getting dirt under my nails, and not having to grub around on the floor, I much prefer standing up.

Then again, maybe most women are still like "how about i just go to the shops and buy the vegetables?"

We are a couple too....dandm....d and m......and we both do it together, though usually it is I (Deb) who posts!!
It is all a team effort however- the dirt garden, aquaponics, chooks, turkeys, sheep, ducks, rabbits, guinea fowl, and the silver perch in the pool! We enjoy it all....together! :wave1:

I only just saw this thread.

LOL.

I suppose I'm an oddball but I like building things and playing with power tools. I also sometimes think perhaps I needed a train set as a kid because I like making water flow around and go where I want it to go.

And I suppose the partnership between the cook and myself might be seen as odd by many since He is the cook and he cleans and does laundry and yells at me for tracking dirt into the house. He also is really good at gravel washing but I do let him come play with power tool too from time to time. I just have to be really vigilant when the chain saws come out.
