Backyard Aquaponics
A place to discuss aquaponics

I am very new to the aquaponic world. I am also eighty-four years old, am an organic vegetable gardener, utilizing both an outdoor garden and a hoop greenhouse. I am located outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and our climate ranges from sub-zero to above the century degrees farenheight. Thus, deciding on what would be an appropriate aquaponic system along with what fish to use is taking some time to decide upon.

In all of my years and I have been around the bush a number of times, frankly it's actually been a lot of bushes, and I have never come across any organization that has been so willing to provide as much in depth information for free as has "Backyardaquaponics".Your IBC manual is outstanding and along with all its contributory material will take some time to fully assimilate.

Now, and it's a bit hard to admit, but when I went to Google Earth to find where you were located and saw that you were in the suburbs of Perth, I was kind of taken aback. Perth is one of those towns that I remember hearing a bit about during the Second World War, but has not been a part of my general geographic interest since. This has been a very pleasant surprise and I believe importantly goes to show how our world has changed so much.

At the very end of the IBC treatise is a section on Further Reading. Though in most instances the articles are a bit aged, nevertheless they provide a cornucopia of important information.

Lastly, about the "You Tube" demo film on the IBC conversion, it is excellent - the length of the presentation is just right - technically but not overly technically presented. However, there are areas, at least from this novices point of view that I would like to see better coverage, such as the different types of fish and the environments that they must have in order to survive and proliferate in.

A thanks to all who were a part of the development of this important piece of work. I do no not what the incentive was for its development, but for me Aquaponics which had started out as a casual somewhat interesting subject, in large part thanks to all of you , has now tuned into a passion. I think you all have turned me onto something that will keep me going for the rest of my days.

One question - is it possible to be able to download the models? I have installed SketchUp and would like to play with setups for my greenhouse system BEFORE I get everything in and loaded up so being able to pick up some of the model parts would be fantastic.

When I click on them they open into a new window with a tag about 'download a copy by clicking on image' but when I do that nothing happens. If I move left or right I get an arrow to take me to the previous or next image but that is as much response as I get.
