But seriously...
Since I've been advertising for interns, I've gotten about a 50/50 response in gender.

I suspect this is a relic of this forum being an internet forum as anything else.

Many women have learned the hard way that it can be a pain to reveal their gender on the internet. For instance, even now, most of the female gamers I know try to hide their gender. We simply get tired of being 1) mocked, 2) derided for being bad at __________ or 3) hit on.

The BYAP forum is more female friendly than most, but even this particular thread has had some pretty sexist stuff in it.

But the BYAP forum isn't the place to discuss how deeply sexism is rooted in our languages and customs. I absolutely don't want to start a sexism debate here, and I know nothing said in this thread has been meant maliciously.

I suspect, that given the general background statistical noise created by hetro male fear of being labelled feminine*, most of the unspecified gendered members will be women. I think a fair few of the members marked male might be women as well, for the reasons mentioned.

One very important aspect is patients(sp) (ie the thing calm people have lots of, not the thing doctors have). I find myself asking questions that have already been answered that I could have easily looked up.

I mention it because tonight when cooking, I called for support for some trivial problem that I would have solved if Mrs Bullwinkle wasn't standing next to me.

In turn, I mention this because I suspect Mrs Bullwinkle would have just delt with it herself if our roles were reversed on the day.

And I mention all that, because I suspect that a stack of people who don't suffer from drama-biased personalities* just look shi(!) up and get on with it without needing help.

And ultimately I mention all this because I like the sound of my own keyboard.

Women are everywhere, they just don't bang on about it so much.

*See me from about age 5

Which 'unspecified gendered members' would they be, BullwinkleII? I haven't yet come across any unspecified members, although unsavoury ones abound!
As for male designated members actually being female, you could well be right since I have suspected all along that Charlie is actually a Charlotte.

It looks like I have no idea what I'm talking about.

There appears to be only two genders to choose from.

Quite limiting really.

Why is it we have to fit everyone into a box? I've seen a couple of very interesting docos about non-gender, apparently more prevalent that most realize..
