Getting ready to go out of town tomorrow 7-26 and will be gone a week, will be taking my
laptop so I can log in

got the WB planted out with LOTS of different stuff to see how it goes, I had quite a few plants overgrown in the flats so transferred them

the topsoil is a blend of basic topsoil and turkey manure (light)

I will post a pic when I get back to see how it does..

Just a quick update....

when I was out of town, it rained almost everyday and everyday was overcast so the plants didnt grow that much..... for the last 3 days I've been back, its been raining....

so... the overflow works perfectly......

after I get a few days of sunshine, I will take some more pics....

I am getting ready to start the next bed as soon as it stops raining

Sorry for joining this thread late, also sorry if I missed the answer to the following question of it is already answered. Were the crates cover with weed/root barrier cloth?

I wonder I'd anyone has tried making a lawn that way... I know they are kind of a resource drain, but kids are much better to have on a lawn than terrorizing a vegi garden. That might also make for an effective gray water system...

A lot of the school playing fields around here use something like this.. they pump water into underground pipes to water the fields... the water stays and wicks up to the grass....even in the biggest droughts, the playing fields (baseball, football, soccor, etc) look great.

My idea is to set up 4 IBC's as water storage, 1100 gallons (4163 L) to top up the ap and wicking beds... we are in a moderate drought here and have been for a few years....

when we do get rain its a gully washer.... lots of rain in a very small amount of time... so time to start capturing it..
