Now that I've added a growbed to this, it's officially AP and can have its own thread..

I picked up a few aquarium tanks with bits and peices a while ago, and when I saw some yabbies at an aquarium for cheap, I hooked a couple of them together to make this system..

So far it consists of the following:
2x 50ltr glass fish tanks cascaded
1x 700lph 10w biofilter pump which would be lucky to be doing 100lph at that height
2x 15ltr growbeds with really noisy loop syphons (only 1 in pic)
1x 400lph 4w cheapo air pump with 2" cylinder airstone in each tank
1x corner filter with carbon & wool for tannins

There is a few aquarium plants and driftwood in the top tank, and both tanks have gravel and river stones since they both have yabbies in them.. 5 in the bottom, and 3 in the top that got de-clawed when they were all in the bottom tank..

I am tossing up between getting a goldfish or 2 and putting one in each tank for mozzies/snail control, or wether I should try to catch the smallest 2 of my silvers and put them in..

Caught some more yabbies on anzac day so added an extra tank for them, quickly plumbed in with a NHO and second pump.. It was only a 2.5' tank though so they started tearing each other apart pretty quickly and had to be seperated with PVC/gutterguard fences..

Thanks to wolvenstine for the LED growlights, but I don't seem to have worked out how to sprout herb seeds yet so they're not in use yet..

Scored some free sheets of glass (npi) the other day so I might make some new tanks with it that are already segmented and only half as high..

I'll probably throw a few pairs together and see what happens when I have a few more tanks and it warms up a bit..

They're much the same as crawdads but more cannibalistic..

Cool video mate. The shell looks almost transparent once it gets out of the old shell.

Hopefully he'll be a bit bluer than the last time.. A few of them are moulting now because they've been moved to bigger tanks.. well kinda, they're in plastic storage boxes untill I can find more glass tanks.. I needed one of theirs for the catfish I've finally managed to get hold of..

Our goldfish just dropped a bunch of eggs too so there's a couple of hundred goldfish fry that I'll need even more tanks for.. or at least another large one..

Quick pic of some of the new catfish, and the goldfish babies, although they're not technically part of this system.. They're not part of any AP system (yet)..

Been running around to garage sales all morning to try to get more tanks for them..

Yeah about 7-8mm at the moment.. got a few hundred in plastic containers all around the kitchen..

They're tandanus.. After seeing em at a nearby aquarium for $43 each last month, paying $6 from livefish didn't seem so bad, so I got 5 (which was all they had at the time)..

So tandanus are the edible variety right? Awesome looking creature.

I scored some catfish recently, went to pick them up and they turned out to be bristlenose. Too cold here for those guys.

Tandanus... while virtually unknown as a table fish... should be, and are to those in the know... a premium table fish...

Yeah but I don't think I'll be eating this lot.. With any luck, if I can find a suitable tank, I can get em to breed in a couple of years.. Definately going to try.. If I find somewhere to get some more at a better price meanwhile, I'll get them to be eaten..
