I have seen youtube videos of those guys. Must need a decent tank to get them that big...

Sounds like a good justification to me :P

Yeah the bristlenose can get to a decent size. They seem to get really wide across the head too.

I had 10 at one point, I got some babies from someone.
For some strange reason they all started dying, one by one....
Water parameters were fine.
Could have been food competition...
the last one was a female and mated with my large male, made babies which all got eaten, then both parents died... :(

Yeah, the Gibbi eats wood and algae. Infact they eat everything.
He was in my AP pond over summer, came out in March FAT as anything!
They do need warm water though.

Bristlenose generally die as babies from lack of food.
After 3cm they are generally pretty solid critters

Such a cool fish. Sometimes i wish i had a massive tank that i could fill up with fish like that. As well as a salt water tank.

A salt water tank will be a fairly quick addition once i own a house i think. Expensive as hell though.

On another note, i did a cherry shrimp head count and got to 20 without even really hunting for them. So numbers are going up :D

I was given 3 once, they disappeared. A month later I found 2 in the canister filter still alive stuck in the filter fabric, my angel fish enjoyed them when I put them back in the tank :naughty:

Haha yeah they will be a tasty treat for my trout one day. Maybe next season.

They can be a hardy little species. I found one in with my yabbie. No idea how long he had been there. Lazy arse yabbie couldnt even catch it
