What sort of pump was it ?
There is a thread where people have been posting in what sort of pumps they have and how long they lasted before they died.
Can you post the details in that thread? I think its a great idea to gather the pump data in one place.

Can anyone find the link to this thread for Ryan ?

Cheers :thumbright:

It was a Jebao 4000.

I am a not going to chuck it in that thread until i see a second one fail in a similar time. I dont want to bash a manufacturer when it could just be one of those things that happen.

It just seems strange that it is running, a light trips the rcd and then the motor is open circuit. Will take it into work and give it a proper test tonight. Hopefully i am just being retarded.

So i managed to temporarily hook my IBC pump up to my aquarium to get the water cycling for a few hours. Then i have to change it all back again. At least the water will get some filtration going on.

That will teach me for not having a spare pump on hand... :(

Mine is more a justification to myself. If I had my own place it would be different but I know I will have to move eventually.

I want it so much though...

That bristlenose is definately a male.
Add a female and a cave and you will end up with hundreds of them!

That is so cool!

What do you do with them once they grow up a bit? Can you sell them to pet stores?

Not quite edible.
I sell to shops 100 at a time. Just about to sell 500 of them

If you were in Perth I would give you a female to take home

Do you mind if i ask what you get each one? It would be cool to be able cover some of the costs of running the system.

I get enough to cover fish food and all of my accessories I need.
Definitely not retirement income :)

I might be keen on a female maybe next week if that is ok?

I was going to try and breed my gouramis before he died but the bristlenose is quickly becoming one of the coolest fish in my tank. Wouldnt mind having a few more :D
